Bavaria: Cabinet decides 29-euro ticket for trainees and students – Bavaria

Trainees, students and those doing voluntary service in Bavaria will receive the Germany ticket for a reduced price of 29 euros from September. Taking bicycles with you should only cost one euro in the future. The cabinet decided on Tuesday in Munich. Existing semester tickets from the universities should be retained and integrated into the discount ticket.

The total price of a local solidarity ticket and a voluntary surcharge ticket that can be canceled monthly should be 29 euros per month (174 euros per semester). So that there are no inequalities between trainees and pupils of a comparable age, the school trip costs for pupils from the 11th grade are to be reduced. The family load limit will also be 29 euros here. The change should apply from the new school year, i.e. in the current year 2023 – unlike before, the student tickets should then also be used throughout Germany beyond just trips to school.

A few weeks before the start of the Germany ticket on May 1st with an introductory price of 49 euros, the implementation in Bavaria is going well, it was said. The Free State continues to support transport companies and associations with a state-wide online portal for quick and easy financing and ensures their liquidity right from the start with advance payments. In total, around 400 million euros would be made available for ticket sales in Bavaria, said Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU).

The cabinet also agreed to be able to offer climate-friendly bus transport throughout the country by 2035, said Söder. In the current year, there should be almost 400 new climate buses in Bavaria thanks to the subsidies, in 2022 there will be almost 200. Changing the drives is a mammoth task. The Free State will also step in for the additional drive-related costs if the federal government rejects funding. For a transitional period, low-emission vehicles, such as those powered by biogas, should also be promoted.
