Bavaria bought protective masks of dubious quality – Bavaria

from

Johann Osel and Klaus Ott, Munich

The warning from the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) was sent to a large number of people by circular mail, and it was by no means the only urgent message of this kind. On October 7, 2020, the LGL provided broad information about the blocking of corona protective masks from a certain manufacturer . An examination showed that the masks did not meet the requirements, i.e. were unsuitable. The LGL asked several ministries, the Technical Relief Agency and the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVB), the organization of resident doctors, to hold back masks that had not yet been delivered. The sender was the Bavarian pandemic central warehouse set up by the LGL in Oberschleißheim near Munich. The author advised to “collect centrally” material that had already been distributed in districts and cities. For the time being, however, the goods must not be disposed of: the masks could be necessary as “evidence” in legal proceedings. Some of these emails from Oberschleißheim were about masks from several manufacturers, mostly from China.
