Regardless of all the protests and threats of lawsuits from Bavaria, the Tyrolean state government has already set numerous more days for truck block handling on the Inntal autobahn. According to the new “dosing calendar” that the Tyroleans published on Tuesday, they want the trucks on the autobahn to be delayed for at least 24 days in the first half of 2023 and then continue towards the Brenner Pass. This usually results in long traffic jams on the Bavarian section of the autobahn between Kiefersfelden and the A8.
In order to prevent the usual evasive traffic and a blockade of the surrounding towns on such days, several Upper Bavarian districts along the A 8 issued transit bans for transit trucks to Tyrol a few weeks ago. Despite pressure from the state government, the federal motorway company did not want to introduce a general departure ban for transit trucks. The Free State argues that the traffic jams caused by the block handling paralyzed traffic in the towns and endangered safety because rescue services could hardly get through. According to the Tyrolean state government, this is exactly what they want to prevent on their roads if, after various night and holiday driving bans, too many trucks enter the country at once. The block handling has proven itself for four and a half years, it was said on Tuesday from Innsbruck. The number of transit trucks has already risen above the pre-corona level. For this year, the Tyroleans have written 38 block dispatches in their dosing calendar, 13 of which are still pending.
