Bavaria: Bear tracks in the snow again – Bavaria

The bear, which attacked three sheep near Oberaudorf in Upper Bavaria this week, is obviously further on the move in the region. This was announced by the Ministry of the Environment. Accordingly, footprints of the animal were discovered in the snow on Friday in the border area between the districts of Rosenheim and Miesbach. The spot is only a few kilometers from the pasture where the bear killed the sheep.

The Ministry of the Environment did not give any further details. One reason for this is that curious people should get as few clues as possible about exactly where the bear is roaming. Also, very little is known about him. So far no one has seen the bear. Experts suspect that it is the animal that has been on the Austrian side in the Brandenberg area for some time. The small Tyrolean community is only about 15 kilometers as the crow flies from where the last footprints were found.

Detailed information is expected from the analysis of the genetic material that the bear left on the three sheep that he killed on Wednesday night on the mountain pasture near Oberaudorf. The investigations are ongoing and it is not yet clear when they will be completed.
