Bavaria: Arson attack on a Ukrainian refugee tent – man has to go to prison – Bavaria

A 57-year-old man has been sentenced to one year and eleven months in prison for two attacks on a refugee tent in Lower Bavaria. The allegations were arson, attempted arson and property damage. No one was injured in the acts in Marklkofen (District of Dingolfing-Landau). The accused had confessed and spoke in his last word of a “brainless act”.

The judges ruled on Monday that the man set fire to a tent for refugees from Ukraine on January 31. This went out again by itself, the property damage was around 3500 euros. On February 2, the man set fire again. In the second case, the tent wall caught fire, resulting in damage of around 27,500 euros. The judges saw a xenophobic disposition in the man.

The prosecutor asked for two years and two months in prison. The defense attorney pleaded for one year and ten months, partly because his client fully admitted the crimes and thus facilitated the investigation. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
