Bavaria: 280 “Christ children” celebrate their first birthday on Saturday – Bavaria

Last year, 280 “Christ children” were born in Bavaria and are now celebrating their first birthday on Christmas Eve. 138 boys and 142 girls have December 24, 2021 as their birthday on their birth certificates, the Bavarian State Office for Statistics announced on Thursday in Fürth. On Christmas Day (December 25), 248 children were born, on Boxing Day (December 26) 243 and on New Year’s Eve (December 31) another 289 children were born. Traditionally, significantly fewer children than usual are born during the Christmas holidays and on New Year’s Eve.

On average, 335 children were born alive in Bavaria every day last year. Incidentally, a particularly large number of children are born in summer: the month with the highest number of births was August with 12,325 children, i.e. an average of 398 births per day. The day with the highest number of births in 2021 was September 24 with 474 children. A total of 134,321 (2020: 128,764) babies were born in Bavaria last year.
