Bavaria: 18 refugees from Syria abandoned in forest – Bavaria

After eleven hours of driving in an unheated cargo hold without seats, a group of Syrian refugees were abandoned in a forest near Frasdorf, near Rosenheim, according to the police. The 15 men and three young people got into the van in Slovenia, had to stay on the floor of the vehicle and were not allowed to get out even during a fuel stop, the police continued. There was a plastic bottle for emergency needs. The police discovered the disoriented people near Frasdorf on Friday morning. An investigation is now underway against the unknown smuggler.

With the help of interpreters, the officials were able to find out that the trip was probably the last stage of an organized smuggling operation. One of the young people reported that his parents had paid 16,000 euros for the trip to Germany. After his arrival in Bosnia, he had to add another 4,000 euros.

The 14, 15 and 17-year-old minors were taken into the care of a youth welfare office, according to the police report. 13 adults were taken to the reception center in Munich. Two Syrians should have been returned to Croatia because they were already undergoing an asylum procedure there.
