bathing prohibited for pollution on all the beaches of the coast

Heavy rainfall, the accumulation of which could locally reach 100 mm by Thursday evening, has already saturated the basins upstream of the treatment plants. The runoff effect of rain on very dry soils also contributes to the bacteriological pollution of the ocean, through the contribution of rivers.

This observation led to the closure of 34 beaches on the Basque coast. As well as a body of water: the lake of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle. The Agglomeration informs of this situation via the kalilo application.

The kalilo application reports beaches closed due to pollution.

Kalilo

This afternoon, a drought and flood committee will bring together the authorities concerned, including the prefecture and the Basque Country Agglomeration, for a specific point on the situation in the Basque Country.

Vigilance

At the end of the morning, this Thursday, no major flooding was reported. But the dry soils after weeks without precipitation do not allow good absorption of the rains. Vigilance remains in order and the orange alert for heavy rain issued by the prefecture is in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday evening.
