The former series champion Alba Berlin has in the Basketball Bundesliga suffered a remarkably significant defeat at home and thus lost ground in the long-distance duel with defending champion Ratiopharm Ulm.
The capital city team clearly had to admit defeat to Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels by 75:108 (37:57) and lost each of the four quarters. The guests hit over 60 percent of their shots and controlled the Euroleague participant in all aspects.
The champions Ulm, who were severely weakened in the summer, are still on the road to success. The narrow 88:83 (5:41) at the Würzburg Baskets was a difficult affair, but coach Anton Gavel’s team kept their nerve in the final seconds. Ulm and surprise team Niners Chemnitz are currently at the top of the league with seven wins each from eight games.
Bayern beat Ludwigsburg
In the afternoon, the FC Bayern Munich basketball players stopped their negative trend and achieved a sense of success in the Bundesliga. Pablo Laso’s team defeated the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in their own hall with 92:84 (39:27). Munich’s best throwers were Sylvain Francisco (20 points), Devin Booker (15) and ex-NBA professional Serge Ibaka (15). For Bayern it was their fifth win in their eighth league game of the season.
However, November has been mixed so far for the BBL’s top favorite. The victory over Ludwigsburg, which was safe for a long time and which national coach Gordon Herbert also saw live on site, was just the second in the seventh game this month.
