First Christmas market weekend in Strasbourg and first “health check” for the Bas-Rhin prefecture. And the prefect, Josiane Chevalier, was formal this morning during a press point on the health situation in the Grand-Est. The representative of the State and her services noted that the rules were “not sufficiently respected”, in particular with regard to the catering areas.
Chalets could be closed
In question, certain visitors who would not play the game, but also certain chalets which would too easily let the customers drink a glass of mulled wine in front of their stand instead of indicating to them the zone which is reserved for them. These few chalets concerned should also receive, if they do not change course, a warning letter, or even then be closed if they persist.
The prefecture also points to insufficient information in several languages to the public and a lack of visibility of the catering areas. This is why Josiane Chevalier is going to send as of today to the town hall of Strasbourg, organizer, a request to remedy this problem and a first meeting on the respect of the barrier gestures against the Covid-19 is scheduled for Tuesday.
Be careful, after a period of teaching that ends, the prefecture promises the application of sanctions, a fine of 135 euros for visitors who do not respect the rules. In the meantime, the market is open until December 26th. Usually…
