One command: whack, done. Wolfgang Pauritsch was looking for an Omega “Flightmaster” for “Bares für Rares” – and he got the deal done in seconds.

Back then he was looking for a wedding ring. But Werner Adamus came across an interesting watch at the jeweler in 1970, which he then bought. Today’s pensioner from Gescher in the Münsterland paid less than 700 marks for it at the time. Today it is definitely worth a lot more, right?

The piece is an Omega “Flightmaster”, as the expert Wendela Horz explains. A watch originally developed for professional pilots, hence the name. In the second generation presented here, the Swiss manufacturer dispensed with the day-night display, but retained some other functionalities and features. Horz refers to the housing, which is modeled on an engine.

The 70-year-old would like to have 300 euros for the watch. But the expert gives him hope for significantly more: she estimates the value at 2000 to 2500 euros.

“Bares for Rares”: Horst Lichter jokes

Adamus actually wanted to invest the proceeds for a present for his wife. Now he fears that the jeweler has a beautiful watch in his shop, just like he did back then, and that he cannot resist. “Then you come back in 50 years and we’ll do the same thing again,” jokes Horst Lichter.

The watch is also popular in the dealership. At least for one thing: Wolfgang Pauritsch, who had already taken a close look at the Omega, gets in for 1,800 euros – and thus offers six times the desired value of Werner Adamus.

Nobody goes over it: “Great price, I actually have nothing more to add,” says David Suppes. The other dealers see it that way too. “If no one bids more, I’ll come to you and buy the watch from you,” says Pauritsch.

The Austrian is obviously not only interested in the Omega. “That goes down in history. That was the fastest sale since ‘Bares for Rares’. We did 1200 episodes – but that was seconds.”

Salesman Adamus and his wife also have reason to be happy: “The present for the golden wedding anniversary will probably be a little bigger.”
