Janina Wienke was not even aware of the valuable piece of jewelry she had in her closet. But Julian-Schmitz-Avila bought the coin bracelet with gold ducats a lot – much to the delight of the saleswoman.

Janina Wienke brings a coin bracelet with ducats to Horst Lichter. The graphic designer from Steinhagen inherited the piece of jewelery from her mother, who was born in Austria. But where the bracelet comes from and from what time – the 43-year-old doesn’t know.

Heide Rezepa-Zabel can help with clarification. It refers to an alloy stamp showing a horse with the letter W. “That points to the inspection office in Vienna,” the expert knows. She goes on to explain that these are single ducats with a high alloy – 986 gold.

The saleswoman Wienke would like to have 1000 to 1200 euros for the piece of jewelry. Rezepa-Zabel needs the calculator for her own estimate. Added together, it comes to 1,300 euros for the gold alone. Overall, the expert estimates the total value at 1400 to 1500 euros.

The graphic artist is amazed. But will she also be able to do this in the dealer room? She has her doubts: “I think I’m more of a bad saleswoman,” fears Wienke.

However, the concern is unfounded: Julian Schmitz-Avila, who had previously examined the bracelet extensively, gets in for 1400 euros and thus already reaches the estimated value with his first bid. Other dealers are also bidding – the bids rise to 1,600 euros.

Waldi has doubts at this point: “300 over gold value?”, He interjects. But Schmitz-Avila is convinced: “The coin bracelets that work. This one is really beautiful.” Elisabeth Nüdling agrees, who increases it to 1650 euros. Schmitz-Avila counters with 1700 – and thus has the last word. To the great satisfaction of everyone involved.

“I didn’t even know what kind of great piece of jewelry I had lying around in the closet,” says Janina Wienke with a smile after the deal is over. She sold the gold bracelet at a price she didn’t think possible. And even without any sales skills!
