The saleswoman at “Bares für Rares” received significantly less money for her necklace than she had hoped – and still went home satisfied. The reason for this is a trick that dealer Susanne Steiger used.

With great expectations, Jeannette and Gunter Irschlinger go to “Cash for Rares”. The couple from Schlangenbad brought a necklace with them, from which they expect a lot of money. Jeanette’s mother once got the jewelry from a nominal aunt, but she never wore it herself. It was in the closet the whole time – that’s what it’s for too bad for him.

Horst Lichter sees it a little differently: “I don’t know if I like it,” admits the moderator. And Wendela Horz also advises that you should rework the necklace and make three “really beautiful” pieces of jewelry out of it. After all, she praises the overall good condition of the piece, which is made of white gold and set with precious diamonds.

“Bares for Rares”: Horst Lichter anticipates the expertise

When Horst Lichter asks the seller what the desired price is, his glasses almost fall off his nose: Jeannette Irschlinger would like a five-figure sum. “Oh, that will be difficult,” anticipates the moderator of the expertise. It is actually higher than assumed by Lichter: Horz estimates the value at 8,000 euros. The Irschlingers would also sell for that.

And so it goes into the dealer’s room: Susanne Steiger examines the necklace with interest and finds: “It’s really beautiful.” She starts the auction with an initial bid of 2500 euros. Wolfgang Pauritsch is also interested, and so the two of them drive the price up to 5,600 euros in a duel.

But Jeannette Ischliner wouldn’t sell for that. “Then I’ll have it reworked myself,” she says. Pauritsch makes another attempt and bids 6000, but the seller does not want to sell anything below 9000. The deal threatens to collapse. But then Wolfgang Pauritsch has an idea: “What do you think of it if Susanne buys the necklace from you and you let her build a ring with the stone?” Steiger agrees: “We’ll rework the stones into a beautiful ring. I’ll buy the gold and then we’ll meet in the workshop and make something nice out of it.”

The Ischlingers agree. Instead of the hoped-for 10,000 euros, you go home with only 1,650 euros. But in return, Jeannette Ischlinger can look forward to a beautiful ring. A great deal for both sides!
