A necklace set with glittering diamonds arouses the interest of dealers in “Bares for Rares”. When the bids stall, the saleswoman picks up a trick – and brings her daughter into play.

At “Bares für Rares” heavy artillery was brought up on Tuesday: Hannah and Berit Zalbertus from Düsseldorf brought an opulent piece of jewelry to Horst Lichter. It is a necklace forged in 750 white gold and set with diamonds.

Berit Zalbertus got the noble jewelery from her husband 13 years ago. “I like bling-bling,” explains the Rhinelander, but now there are hardly any reasons to wear the necklace. It was too opulent for her daughter Hannah, and so the decision was made to sell the jewelry.

Expert Wendela Horz is impressed by the piece, she estimates the diamonds at 25 carats, the date of creation dates back to 1980 or later. But what is the clunker worth? The two saleswomen spend 20,000 euros as the desired price. The expert, a trained jeweler, doesn’t quite go along with that. But Horz still holds out the prospect of 15,000 euros for mother and daughter.

“Bares for Rares”: Dealers are enthusiastic

The glittering necklace is met with great enthusiasm in the dealer room. “Donnerlittchen,” says Elisabeth Nüdling as she examines the object. Fabian Kahl has a premonition: “It will be expensive,” groans the Thuringian.

He should be right. After a cautious entry with 6000 euros, it quickly became five-digit. But when the bids stalled at 12,500 euros, mother Zalbertus pulled the joker: The proceeds should go to the education of her daughter Hannah, said the Düsseldorf woman. As a result, the dealers gave themselves another jolt.

In the end, it was Elisabeth Nüdling who won the bid: the necklace was worth 15,000 euros – exactly the amount that the expert Wendela Horz had announced. “I am very happy that the piece of jewelery has found someone who will obviously like it as much as I do,” said Berit Zalbertus after the deal was closed. So in the end everyone was happy: the mother knows that her necklace is in good hands. The daughter is happy about a substantial injection of funds for her studies. And the trader Nüdling owns a valuable piece of jewelry, at least for a short time – which she will certainly be able to sell at a profit.
