For Barca club icon Gerard Pique, the city derby against Espanyol Barcelona is even more important than the Clasico against Real Madrid – and even more exciting than some private pleasures. “There’s nothing like it in the world. I would say it’s better than sex. I enjoy it a lot more than playing against Real Madrid,” said pop icon Shakira’s partner in an interview with YouTuber Jordi Wild.
After a year of sporting celibacy when Espanyol played in the second tier, Barcelona’s city rivals returned to the top flight ahead of the current season. “I’m happy that Espanyol has been promoted to the 1st division because that’s how we play in their stadium. I like going there, I’m constantly whistled at. People laugh and the fans get even more angry,” said Pique.
Pique and Shakira have been dating since 2010
It is not known how the statements about sex were received by his girlfriend Shakira. Both have been together since 2010 and have two sons together.
However, Pique will have to wait until the new season for the next sporting highlight against Espanyol. The two clubs have already met twice in the league this season. Pique and his colleagues won 1-0 at home at Camp Nou, while away at Espanyol it was 2-2.
