Now Greta Gerwig is also speaking out about the scandal surrounding her non-nomination: Of course she wished Margot Robbie an Oscar.

The non-nomination scandal surrounding Greta Gerwig (40) and Margot Robbie (33) is still making waves. Now the “Barbie” director is in conversation spoke to the US magazine “Time”. “Of course I wanted it [die Oscar-Nominierung, Anm. d. Red.] for Margot,” says Gerwig clearly.

After Gerwig and Robbie were left out of this year’s Oscar nominations, a wave of criticism broke out around the world. But the director appears calm. She is looking forward to the evening together and is simply “happy that we can all be there together.” Gerwig is also indirectly nominated for an Oscar: Together with her husband Noah Baumbach (54), she is in the running for one of the coveted golden boys in the “Best Adapted Screenplay” category.

“Barbie” actress Robbie had previously criticized the fact that Gerwig was not considered for a nomination for best director during a panel discussion. “Of course I think Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is a unique thing in her career,” she said according to “Deadline”.

Eight Oscar nominations for “Barbie”

“Barbie” received a total of eight Oscar nominations, including for Best Picture. In addition to “Ken” actor Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera (39) also received a nomination for best supporting actress. Shortly after the announcement, Gosling was critical of Robbie and Gerwig’s non-nominations. “To say I’m disappointed they weren’t nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement,” Gosling wrote in a statementwhich is available to various media outlets such as “CBS News” and “The Independent”.

In addition to countless fans, there was further public support for Robbie and Gerwig from Hillary Clinton (76), John Stamos (60) and his wife Caitlin McHugh (37) and successful US author Brad Meltzer (53). How many Oscars “Barbie” ultimately wins will be shown at the awards ceremony on March 11th.
