Munich – Just a few months after the death of his brother Elmar Wepper († 79), actor Fritz Wepper († 82) also died after a long illness. The “For Heaven’s Sake” star was buried on Wednesday (April 10, 2024) – he will find his final resting place in the family grave, reunited with his loved ones. But the funeral service in the Sacred Heart Church in Munich-Neuhausen was not without incident: there was chaos at the entrance.

Because while some were already in the church to say goodbye to Fritz Wepper, others were denied entry. Barbara Engel (71), the ex-wife of Bernd Herzsprung (82) and long-time friend of the late TV star, wanted to attend the funeral – but she was turned away at the entrance to the church. “I showed my ID and said: ‘I would like to see Bernd Herzsprung and my daughters.’ And then they said: ‘You’re not on the list. And they’re not invited,'” she reported RTL.

It was a shock for Barbara Engel, who had traveled from Berlin for the memorial service in honor of Fritz Wepper – after all, like everyone else, she had intended to say goodbye to her once close friend. “I’m not wanted,” she stated disappointedly. In conversation with Mercury she was also annoyed: “An impudence. I knew Fritz for 50 years.” It is unclear why Barbara Engel was not on the guest list – she claims that she was invited.

The native of Hamburg had decided to use the memorial service to make peace with Fritz Wepper – and therefore wrote him a personal letter. “When everyone’s gone, I’ll give him my letter for Angela. And I’m now totally happy that the two of them are finally together again and that Elmar is there and his mother, because I knew everyone very well,” she explains. Before marrying Susanne Kellermann (49), Fritz Wepper was married to Angela von Morgen (†76) – the couple and Barbara Engel and her ex Bernd Herzsprung were good friends and even married together.
But the Weppers’ turbulent marriage also led to disagreements among their friends. “I have […] I heard all of Angela’s terrible stories and always tried to rebuild Angela.
