Barack Obama is no longer a politician. If he is concerned with work, with pay and quality of life and the changing requirements of a job – then he no longer has to offer solutions. He can only ask questions. He has that in his series Work: What we do all day done for four episodes. This is very interesting, especially at the beginning. There is a single mother who really wanted to be a carer and then couldn’t stick with it; he talks to young people who wonder why their parents were always with one company, to employees who try to celebrate being in the middle class instead of wishing for more and more. After all, Obama can say to one of his interlocutors, and not even every ex-politician can do that: “My first job was selling ice cream. That’s probably why I don’t care much for ice cream.”
