BAP concert: The Boomers celebrate themselves again

In Cologne, the dialect band BAP is giving its opening concert for the new retro tour “Zeitreise 81/82”. It will be an evening with great music and strong lyrics, but also a lot of melancholy. Here the boomers can still celebrate themselves.

Shortly after eight it starts in the venerable Satory Hall in Cologne, where the carnival will soon be raging again. The stage design is simple, whirling instruments in the background, a sophisticated light show. BAP played here often in its early days. Band founder Wolfgang Niedecken, all in black with a hat and beard, first sings “Koot vüür aach”, a song about stage fright. It comes from the 1982 album “Vun dranne noh drusse”, the most successful of the dialect rock band. “I just hope they not only understand my nonsense, but also what I’m about,” the song says.
