Banks – Unicredit reports profit – Economy

The Italian banking group Unicredit made a loss of 1.4 billion euros in the fourth quarter due to special effects. In the year as a whole, however, the mother of the Munich Hypo-Vereinsbank (HVB) still managed an increase of 1.5 billion euros, as announced by Unicredit. 2020 had ended with a loss of almost 2.8 billion euros. The result turned out to be slightly better than last promised. Earnings also increased more than expected. The result supports the new boss Andrea Orcel tailwind in his plans to increase revenues and profits and to pay out more to shareholders in the coming years.
