Ban days and reprimand, the proposed penalties for threatening a protester

End of disciplinary council for police officers recorded threatening and insulting demonstrators during the protest against pension reform. Police prefect Laurent Nuñez is proposing to sanction two Brav-M police officers, one with three days of exclusion and the second with a reprimand, we learned on Friday from the police headquarters.

In June, the prefect followed the advice of the IGPN (“the police force”) by deciding to refer three police officers from this mobile unit to a disciplinary council. Four others had been sentenced to a warning. Three police officers appeared before the disciplinary council on Thursday. For the third, there was no decision, we learned from a source familiar with the matter.

Threats from a student

The proposals for sanctions were forwarded to the Ministry of the Interior by Prefect Nuñez. The disciplinary council was held after the decision to refer two members of Brav-M to the Bobigny criminal court on March 7, 2024.

On the night of March 20 to 21, members of the Brav-M (Brigade for the repression of violent motorized action) arrested seven young people, suspected of having taken part in damage in a wild procession in the center of Paris during the protest movement against the pension reform. “The next time we come, you won’t get on the bus to go to the police station, you will get on another thing called an ambulance to go to the hospital,” a police officer threatens a Chadian student, Souleyman.
