A 54-year-old woman has been sentenced to life in prison for murder after stabbing her daughter’s ex-husband multiple times. When the verdict was announced on Friday, the judge described her attack on the 32-year-old man as a “very reprehensible act”. He came to his ex-wife in Ebermannstadt (Forchheim district) last July to pick up their two-year-old daughter and spend time alone with her for the first time.
The former mother-in-law surprised him at the front door and suddenly stabbed the former soldier. He fled to an intersection, the woman added more stitches to him, he ended up with at least eleven. The 32-year-old bled to death. She lived with her daughter in a real symbiosis, said the judge, referring to the perpetrator. She saw this relationship and that with her granddaughter as endangered because, according to a court decision, the man was entitled to see the girl alone.
The 54-year-old had presented the victim in her statements as a bad father who had hit his wife and daughter. The judge said the allegation was false. “He was a loving father, in our opinion,” he said. The verdict is not yet legally binding. The perpetrator’s lawyer, Alexander Schmidtgall, had pleaded manslaughter and announced that he would appeal.
