Balkan Festival in Munich: Reading by Aleksandar Hemon and concert – Munich

Sarajevo during the time of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The city falls victim to the war, and nothing in Rafael Pinto’s life is as it once was. But at least he has Osman at his side. Aleksandar Hemon tells their shared story in his new novel “The World and Everything It Contains.” Now the Bosnian-American writer is coming to Munich and presenting his work (Saturday, April 20, 7 p.m., Bellevue di Monaco).

Inspired by Hemon’s book, Damir Imamović developed his album of the same name. In his touching songs, the lines merge with the tones of the Sevdah style, the love poetry of Bosnia. Accompanied by Aleksandar Hemon, Imamović presents his interpretation of the traditional music style on Sunday, April 21st, at Fat Cat (8 p.m.).

Both events take place as part of the “Šta Ima!?” festival. The festival, which was initiated ten years ago by the Munich City Library and Adult Education Center and balkaNet eV, is being resumed – and aims to offer a platform for art, literature and culture from the former Yugoslavia and the Western Balkans with further events throughout the year.
