Baierbrunn – Theater of Prevention clarifies fraud schemes – District of Munich

Anyone who has the pleasure of seeing Christine Zwiefelhofer, Baierbrunn’s senior citizens’ adviser, in the municipal council or talking to her privately will probably get the impression: This woman may sometimes let things go, but she won’t let herself be fooled by an X for a U. But well, you can never be absolutely sure, and the over 60 age group in particular is always particularly at risk of becoming the victim of scams – classics are the so-called “grandchild trick” and the “fake policeman”. In affluent areas like the Munich area, resourceful con artists who try to take advantage of the credulity and helpfulness of older people are often active. With shock calls and false information, such as the unfortunate situation of relatives or a series of burglaries in the neighborhood, but also untrue profit announcements, a false scenario is created that is sometimes difficult to avoid.

An original way of doing preventive work in this regard is the play “Lug und Fraud”, which will be shown on Tuesday, March 22nd, at the Baierbrunn Sports and Citizens’ Center. Christine Zwiefelhofer became aware of the production conceived by the theater group Musikverein Graben in Swabia and the Augsburg Police Inspectorate and premiered in autumn 2021 and had the idea of bringing this production to the Isar Valley.

“I found that very interesting. The theater group has rehearsed that with the police and shows on stage how seniors are ripped off,” explains Zwiefelhofer. The different episodes are about how criminals try to get the savings of the potential victims. In a two-act play, visitors can see – the performance is of course not just for older semesters – how quickly one can become a victim of fraudsters. In real-life scenes, the actors and actresses will act out various frauds – a spectacle that is both entertaining and frightening for the viewers.

Afterwards, the criminal police will also provide tips and information on how to protect yourself from such crimes. The curtain for “Lug und Fraud” will open on Tuesday, March 22, at 3 p.m. in the Baierbrunn Sports and Citizens’ Center at Wirthsfeld. Co-organizer is the traditional costume association “Georgenstoana Baierbrunn”. Admission is free, donations are requested. We also ask that you register with Christine Zwiefelhofer on 089/793 05 07.
