Baierbrunn: Lecture on the history of the Isar Valley Railway – district of Munich

The railway line known as the “Isartalbahn” once ran from Munich’s Isartal railway station opposite the wholesale market hall in Sendling via Wolfratshausen to Bichl. Opened in the 1990s, the middle section of the once 50.76 kilometer route from the Großhesselohe district of Pullach via Baierbrunn and Schäftlarn to Wolfratshausen still exists, which is now used by the S7 – sometimes more, sometimes less punctually. There have also been plans for many years to extend the line via Gelting to Geretsried.

Next Thursday, October 20th, Wolfgang Jirschik, former mayor of Baierbrunn and deputy chairman of the local heritage association, will give a lecture in the parish hall of the Catholic Church on the subject: “The Isar Valley Railway – yesterday-today-tomorrow”. Jirschik had already given a lecture on this in May of this year and due to the great interest at the time, the association for home care Baierbrunn (VHB) decided to hold the lecture again. Start is at 7 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Registration is required with VHB board member Günter Tengler, by telephone on 089/7932293 or [email protected].
