The Raiffeisenbank im Oberland has been promoting sport in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district for many decades. “In particular, the support of mass sport and the promotion of youth work in our local clubs is important to us,” says board member Manfred Gasteiger. But professional sport also benefits from the cooperative bank’s enthusiasm for sport.
For further support, the Raiffeisenbank is now organizing another project: The German Olympic Sports Association and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken award clubs nationwide within the framework of “Stars of Sports” that are particularly socially committed beyond their sporting offerings.
“We’re part of the party again this year and we’re awarding the big star of sport in bronze here in the Oberland. We would like to call on and motivate all local sports clubs to take part in the competition,” confirms press spokeswoman Simone Kleinjung. She is particularly pleased when clubs take part this year that have not been there before. “We are looking for new, innovative, young and fresh ideas. Those who have already been there and know the procedure apply regularly,” says Kleinjung. “But many others probably have concerns that they and their projects are too small.” Raiffeisenbank would like to take this shyness away from the clubs. “We are simply looking for sports clubs that make a contribution to the people in our region with their social commitment. It doesn’t always have to be the really big, complex or expensive projects and campaigns – also small initiatives, smart ideas or the commitment of individual volunteers in have a chance in this area.” Even taking part in the competition is worthwhile: “We reward every application with a donation of 250 euros to the club coffers,” Kleinjung promises.
All sports clubs from the Raiffeisenbank’s business area in the Oberland can take part in the vote for “Stars of Sports”, i.e. almost the entire district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. The application period runs from now until June 30, 2023. An independent jury then evaluates all submissions and selects the winning club at local level. This will be awarded the “big star of sport” in bronze, combined with a cash prize of 1000 euros. The winning club also automatically qualifies for the state finals for the “Stars of Sports” in silver.
