Videos on the Internet show the spectacular accident of a Tesla. The police are now looking for the driver. Meanwhile, the owners of the damaged cars are collecting money.

The incident has caused a stir in the past few days: in Los Angeles, a driver drove a rented Tesla Model S up a small hill at high speed, but apparently did not expect the road to drop sharply again after the crest. According to the police, the electric car flew up to 15 meters high and then landed between garbage cans and two parked cars.

Passers-by filmed the spectacular scene and put the videos online, they were viewed tens of thousands of times, and the media reported on the accident. Although accident may not be the right word: the police suspect that there was a stunt behind it. The fact that other cars were damaged was possibly not planned. The influencer Dominykas Zeglaitis, known as DurteDom, has claimed on TikTok to be responsible for the crash – the police are trying to determine whether there is anything to it.

Tesla flies through the air – Subaru damaged

Of course, the matter is not particularly funny for the owners of the cars that were damaged in the accident. One of these belonged to Jordan Hook, a young musician. He had parked his Subaru on the curb when the Tesla slid into the car, damaging the front tires, steering column and suspension. What exactly happened to his car, he could see in the videos on the Internet.

He recently invested $5,000 to fix his car. The car is not drivable at the moment. Now he does not know how to proceed: as long as it is unclear who is responsible for the accident, negotiations with the insurance company will be difficult. In the meantime, Hook has started a fundraising campaign on the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe and has good prospects of being able to finance the repair or possibly even a new car. More than $16,000 has already been raised.

Los Angeles police are searching for the driver

After all: The public attention helps Hook to acquire financial support. The police in Los Angeles had not originally planned to investigate further in the case, after all there had only been property damage and the driver had fled. It wasn’t until the video became more popular on social media that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) took action. There is now a $1,000 reward for information leading to the driver’s identification.

Jordan Hook is convinced that Alex Choi can at least help if he is not one of the organizers of the campaign himself. The influencer (almost a million followers on Instagram) had also posted videos of the crash. Choi often shows spectacular car stunts on his channels. The police have announced that they will investigate the tip. Choi himself claims not to be involved. He was invited by another influencer and didn’t know what exactly it was about.
