The holiday season in Germany is slowly but surely coming to an end. While in some federal states the pupils were able to welcome the new school year a few weeks ago, it will only be a few days in the southern regions. The students, who usually start the winter semester at the beginning of October or the beginning of November, still have a grace period. The time between lectures and exams is often used to think about your own technical equipment. Fittingly, like last year, NVIDIA has started a back-to-school campaign.

The notebook has become an indispensable companion for studies, but also for school days and has changed significantly in recent years. Thanks to hardware that has become more and more efficient, the devices have become much more compact and lighter, which makes transport much more comfortable. Nevertheless, they sometimes have really powerful hardware that can run more than just the spreadsheet or the writing program. On the contrary: A current notebook has become a real all-rounder. Compact, light and fast enough for work on campus in the morning, for post-work in the afternoon and even powerful enough for a game or two in the evening, because thanks to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 this is easily possible.

You don’t have to dig deep into your pockets for this, even in times of inflation. You can get a new work notebook for your studies and a device that is also fit for gaming for less than 1,000 euros to not quite 1,500 euros. Here, however, you have to look closely and always comb through the offers. NVIDIA gives here an assistance, which lists matching devices. Three of them are also presented in detail in this article.

NVIDIA back-to-school notebooks

With RTX, DLSS and Studio at the forefront

In the price range of less than 1,000 euros, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 laptop in particular has established itself as an interesting GPU. With its Tensor and RT cores, which can be found for the first time in the lower price and performance region, it enables functions such as RTX or DLSS. Especially with Deep Learning Super Sampling, even the most demanding graphics crackers can be accelerated.

For this purpose, the game is first rendered in a lower resolution by the graphics card and the result is compared with an optimal version of the frame stored by NVIDIA. The real image output is then generated from these two via the dedicated hardware units. This gives you a very good combination of high image quality and smooth display, which is particularly beneficial for cheaper devices. In some cases, the image quality can even be surpassed.

In the next price range from around 1,000 euros, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is particularly interesting, which puts it up a notch in terms of performance and memory equipment. If you spend around 1,300 euros, you will even find devices with an even faster NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070.

Also worth mentioning is the Max-Q technology, which provides for particularly economical graphics processors and thus makes thin & light models possible in the first place. For this purpose, the TGP is limited, the clock and thus the power consumption including waste heat is reduced.

But NVIDIA’s studio label also contributes to the success. Laptops that have been awarded this validation meet special requirements that simplify work within the creative industry and are therefore primarily aimed at photographers, designers and video artists. If you are looking for a laptop specifically for photo editing, video editing or for rendering complex 3D content, you no longer have to spend a lot of time comparing the hardware yourself, but simply get a studio laptop that suits you in terms of looks and price best suits.

You can be sure that the device will meet the requirements of everyday use.

As part of this year’s Back to school campaign NVIDIA has put together a number of different notebooks with GeForce RTX and in some cases even discounted them in cooperation with its partners.

Three of these devices will be presented separately in this article. Three models will be presented in the price range from 850 to 1,300 euros.
