Bach’s “Markus Passion” in Munich: Concert Review – Munich

We know the St. Matthew or St. John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach during Lent. So why not try the St. Mark Passion by the same composer, as the choir of the Church of the Ascension in Sendling did? Although only the text book has survived, there are already some very different recordings. How it works? Because Bach himself used it to prepare his own older compositions. And the rest can be added, from other passions and cantatas, in the style of Bach or in conscious contrast to it.
