“Is that mean, I’m about to cry!”: This prank by RTL caused embarrassment

He sweats, babbles Hessian and doesn’t like fitness studios: At first glance, the new bachelor Dominik Stuckmann deviates slightly from the typical dome show template. RTL also came up with something new for the first episode – to the annoyance of two candidates.
In the first episode “The Bachelor” the impression was briefly given that it could be a little more difficult with great love this year. After all, the newly arrived single man Dominik said that he doesn’t care about gyms. Something like this scares experienced “Bachelor” viewers: The gym is traditionally the lowest common denominator of bachelor and candidates. Dominik prefers to play table tennis. It doesn’t matter, the participants are still in love, just as the format envisages. Yes, Dominik, who is babbling in Hessian, even causes tears in the first episode.
“Is that mean, I’m about to cry!” Candidate Christina R. sobbed into the camera. What happened? RTL had come up with a little prank that caused her and her colleague Josephine to panic. The two were the first to take the limousine to meet the bachelor. He was supposed to greet her in front of the villa in Mexico for the first night of roses. But when the two drove up there was nothing to see from the bachelor.
“I swear: There is no bachelor!”
Great confusion among the women: “I swear: there is no bachelor!” It wasn’t until the driver of the car got out and walked the red carpet to the villa that it dawned on them, “That’s him! Oh god, how embarrassing!” Because that was how Dominik was able to overhear the excited conversation between Christina and Josephine incognito. “I’m scared,” Josephine had confessed. “I hope he’s a lighter guy, light eyes,” dreamed Christina. They also talked about the chauffeur dressed all in black (“Fully styled!”), as well as about Josephine’s nickname and the gift that went with it for the bachelor: a bouncy ball (“Just throw it at his head!”).
Christina was horrified: “You can’t prepare for that, it’s never happened before!” And Josephine said: “This is the most unfair game you have ever played with us!” Bachelor Dominik took it with humor and first wiped the beads of sweat from his face. There was a little consolation for the candidates: because of the prank, the two were among the first to later receive a rose.
After all, the dome show is hard enough even without a prank, tears flowed. “I was the way I am and that probably wasn’t enough,” sobbed the eliminated candidate Jenny and there were no roses for Bella and Elina either.
