The macabre discovery was made on Saturday evening by the Lyon police. The body of a baby was found on the balcony of an apartment located in the 9th arrondissement. It was the baby’s father who alerted the emergency services. His 34-year-old wife, and already mother of three children, reportedly denied pregnancy, revealed Progress. She would have given birth alone that night.
The Lyon public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to find the causes of death and understand what may have happened. The baby did not show any suspicious traces that could lead one to believe that he was killed by his mother, the regional daily still indicates, specifying that an autopsy must be performed to determine if he was alive at birth.
The “very shocked” mother would not have told anyone about her pregnancy, not even her husband. Worried to see traces of blood in the apartment and his suffering wife, he would have discovered their baby on the balcony.
