The baby hatch in Rosenheim is coming faster than originally planned. It should be ready for use in November, on the ground floor of house four in the east wing of the RoMed Klinikum Rosenheim. Women in need who do not want to keep their child after a birth can leave it there anonymously “well shielded from visitor traffic,” according to the clinic’s website. CSU member of the Bundestag Daniela Ludwig said she was happy that the closure came so quickly. She and her husband, city councilor Florian Ludwig, had campaigned hard for the flap since a mother abandoned her child in a backyard in Rosenheim in March.
