His daughter Zoë Kravitz cracks jokes, Denzel Washington praises the friendship, fans applaud: Singer Lenny Kravitz is celebrated in Hollywood with a star on the “Walk of Fame”.

US rock star Lenny Kravitz (“Are You Gonna Go My Way”) now has a star in Hollywood. In front of cheering fans, the singer unveiled the plaque on the famous “Walk of Fame” in the heart of the film metropolis. When he was eleven, he moved from New York to Los Angeles with his mother. As a “naive teenager” he learned everything about music, creativity and life on the streets of LA. Back then, he admired the stars of his idols on Hollywood Boulevard, but never dreamed of being immortalized there himself. Kravitz recalled times when he slept in a car, worked as a dishwasher and in a fish market, and bought his first guitar at the age of twelve.

As a guest speaker, his daughter, actress and model Zoë Kravitz (35), paid tribute to her “cool dad”. The daughter joked that it wasn’t just his fishnet shirts that he wore all the time that were cool. He also inspires with his joy of life and his great love for music. Hollywood star Denzel Washington (69) raved about his long, close friendship with Lenny Kravitz. They are like twin brothers without looking alike, said the actor. Kravitz has an “incredible talent” and an “incredible heart”.

Kravitz: Immortalized on the same street as Beatles and heroes

In an interview with dpa, Kravitz recently commented on the award on the “Walk of Fame”. “I am grateful for all the flowers that are given to me. I feel a deep gratitude. But of course I don’t make art and music for that. I do it for myself because I simply HAVE to do it. I have no choice. But I am “Very honored to be immortalized on the same street as The Beatles and some of my heroes.”

The guitarist and singer made his breakthrough in 1989 with his album “Let Love Rule”. His best-known songs include “American Woman”, “Fly Away”, “Fields Of Joy” and “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over”. His twelfth album, titled “Blue Electric Light,” is scheduled to be released in May. The Grammy award winner also works as a designer and actor, having had roles in films such as “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “2022: Shotgun Wedding – A Tough Team”.

The “Walk of Fame” is a section of sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles in which star-shaped plaques have been embedded since 1960.
