“Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush” received two awards at the Berlinale. Now Dresen’s tragic comedy also has a chance at the European Film Awards. But the competition is big.

The tragic comedy “Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush” by director Andreas Dresen made it into the shortlist for the European Film Awards. On Thursday, the European Film Academy published the first 30 titles that could be in the running for the award.

These include Pedro Almodóvar’s “Parallel Mothers”, Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness”, Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast” and Marie Kreutzer’s “Corsage”. More films are to follow in September. The official nominations will be published in November. The awards will then be presented in December in Reykjavik, Iceland.
