Taylor Swift makes history – Killer Mike is taken away after Grammy award
Pop superstar Taylor Swift wins the Grammy for album of the year for the fourth time, surpassing Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder, who have won the category three times. Another winner of the evening will be taken away immediately afterwards.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift won the Grammy for best album of the year and made history. With “Midnights,” the 34-year-old won in the main category on Sunday evening in Los Angeles for the fourth time, following awards for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.”
Swift left behind Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder, who each won three awards in the category. The musician, who attracts millions of fans with her “Eras Tour” and earns record amounts, had recently announced her new album “The Torted Poets Department” for April 19th.
The Grammys are being presented for the 66th time this year. Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners of the Golden Gramophones, which are among the most coveted music prizes in the world and are awarded in 94 categories.
Miley Cyrus won another important award in the Record of the Year category for “Flowers”. “This price is incredible. But I really hope he doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday,” Cyrus said.
Victoria Monét was named best newcomer. Billie Eilish won the song of the year category for the “Barbie” hit “What Was I Made For?” She thanked director Greta Gerwig for making “the best film of the year”.
US rapper Killer Mike also caused a stir in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. After accepting three music awards, the musician was arrested by the police. He was led away in handcuffs, as a video published by The Hollywood Reporter showed. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said an altercation at the venue led to the arrest around 4 p.m.
Previously, Killer Mike had accepted awards for best rap performance, best rap song (both for “Scientists & Engineers”) and best rap album (“Michael”).
