The Berlinale wants the German director Edgar Reitz (91). The filmmaker should receive the Berlinale Camera 2024 during the festival in February, the film festival announced on Friday. Reitz is known, among other things, for the “Heimat” trilogy, which takes place in a fictional Hunsrück village. He is one of the most influential filmmakers of his generation, said the Berlinale management duo Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian, according to the statement. “At 91 years old, Reitz is still ready to question who we are and where we come from.”

Reitz also made films such as “Zero Hour” and “The Tailor of Ulm”. Along with Cannes and Venice, the Berlinale is one of the world’s largest film festivals and is scheduled to begin on February 15th. Since 1986, the Berlinale Camera has been honoring people and institutions who have made outstanding contributions to filmmaking.
