US singer Taylor Swift was happy about the “Moonman” for the video of the year – and announced big news in her acceptance speech.

Taylor Swift has won the coveted Video of the Year trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards. The 32-year-old singer also won Best Director and Best Feature Music Video for her song “All Too Well” (Taylor’s Version). In her acceptance speech, she informed fans that she will be releasing a new album in October.

The MTV music channel awards were presented at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Harry Styles won Album of the Year with Harry’s House, and Billie Eilish won Song of the Year with Happier Than Ever. Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X scooped multiple trophies including Best Collaboration (“Industry Baby”). Other honorees included Bad Bunny, Dove Cameron, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo and Italian rock band Måneskin.

Rapper Minaj also accepted the honorary Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The trophy is awarded in memory of video clip pioneer Michael Jackson.

The VMA awards have been presented since 1984. Fans can vote for their favorites online. The trophy is a “Moonman” – a small astronaut on the moon holding an MTV flag.
