Avignon Festival: The health protocol unveiled

Several measures will have to be observed during the Festival d’Avignon, including the In and the Off will take place from July 5 to 31. According to the health protocol unveiled this Thursday by the prefecture of Vaucluse, wearing a mask will be mandatory inside the walls that surround the heart of the city, an area generally very busy at this time.

On the other hand, contrary to what was feared by companies and theaters, no spectator gauge will ultimately be imposed. The rooms will be able to accommodate 100% of the public “while respecting social distancing and barrier gestures”, according to the press kit. “However, in the event of a deterioration of the epidemic situation, the prefect would be likely to again restrict this gauge”, specifies the prefecture.

An ephemeral vaccination center opened

During the festival, screening will be stepped up in the city, with the opening of two ephemeral centers. An ephemeral vaccination center will also be open on the premises of the university. Entertainment professionals will be offered weekly tests, and self-tests will be distributed to them. Professionals from countries in the red zone will be screened and isolated.

Finally, as announced at the beginning of June, a health pass (proof of vaccination, negative PCR test of less than 48 hours or positive test of more than 15 days and less than six months) will be required to access the Cour d’Honneur du Palais des Papes, which can accommodate over 1,000 people. About forty shows will be offered for the In and more than a thousand for the Off.
