Aveyron, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Haute-Savoie and Lozère also placed on orange vigilance, 22 departments now concerned

In total, 25 departments are concerned by an orange alert, including the nine territories still placed on heat wave alert.

The lightning will illuminate the sky of France. Twenty-two departments in eastern France were placed on orange alert on Tuesday July 11, due to thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening by Meteo France. Ain, Allier, Aveyron, Bas-Rhin, Cantal, Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Loire, Haute-Marne, Haute-Saône, Haute-Savoie, Jura, Loire, Lozère, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Moselle, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône, Saône-et-Loire, Territoire de Belfort, Vosges are concerned by this alert.

According to Météo France, the storms will move quickly towards the east and the northeast during the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, sweeping the departments placed in orange vigilance. These violent storms will evacuate towards Germany in the evening or at the beginning of the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. A second strongly stormy episode is possible in the evening from Occitania to the Massif Central, warn forecasters.

Temperatures also remain very high in part of France. Nine departments are still placed in heat wave orange vigilance, Tuesday July 11. These are Ain, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, Côte-d’Or, Isère, Jura, Loire, Rhône and Saône-et-Loire. In total, 25 departments are thus placed on alert for thunderstorms and/or heat waves.
