“Avatar: The Way of Water” remains in the top ten globally successful films of all time.

“Avatar: The Way of Water” continues to climb up the all-time box office charts. The sequel to the highest-grossing film of all time now ranks seventh in the List of the world’s highest-grossing strips of all time.

After its fourth weekend in global theaters, “Avatar: The Way of Water” has now grossed $1.708 billion. The sci-fi spectacle overtook “Jurassic World” (1.671 billion) and “The Lion King” this week. Disney’s live-action remake of the hit trick made 1.663 billion in 2019.

James Cameron is chasing himself

By the way, “Avatar” is at number one in the all-time charts. The predecessor of the current chart topper had a turnover of 2.922 billion US dollars. Director James Cameron (68) is now in the top ten three times. In addition to the two “Avatar” films, “Titanic” is also included, with sales of 2.201 billion in third place.

After a good but disappointing start weekend, “Avatar 2” has now caught up. The film attracted many people to the cinemas over the Christmas holidays. And it’s not getting any less. Last weekend, “Avatar 2” brought in a strong 45 million dollars in the USA.

Still, the domestic revenue of “Avatar: The Way of Water” lags behind the global figures. In the Ranking of the most successful films in the USA and Canada “Avatar 2” is “only” in 16th place.
