Autobahn A8: Police stop trucks without brakes – district of Munich

On Saturday afternoon, the police pulled a truck between Brunnthal and Holzkirchen, the driver of which obviously found it difficult to keep the truck and trailer reasonably straight on the road. During his inspection, the officials found out what explained the driving behavior: The permissible weight of the entire combination was exceeded by 46 percent, the trailer load by 29 percent – the cause of the “rocking” driving style. However, the police officers were speechless when they also found that both the overrun brake and the parking brake of the trailer were completely ineffective, and the trailer lighting was also not working. According to the police, it was therefore not possible to brake the completely overloaded vehicle in a controlled manner. On top of that, the 49-year-old driver from Croatia didn’t even have a driver’s license that would allow him to drive the combination. He had to deposit a security deposit of 800 euros and continue the journey home as a passenger with an acquaintance. His truck will probably have to wait longer.
