A tragedy has crept into the mountain idyll of Austria: a little boy died of “massive malnutrition” in a small Tyrolean town. Parents should be responsible.

A three-year-old boy starved to death in the small Tyrolean town of Kufstein on the border with Bavaria – the child’s parents are under arrest Suspicion of murder. The couple’s other children, aged one, three and six, were also placed in the care of child and youth welfare services. According to media reports, they show no signs of malnutrition.

As the police announced on Wednesday, the authorities and emergency services were informed of the boy’s death on Monday. “According to the preliminary autopsy results, the child died due to severe malnutrition,” the police said. “Something like this doesn’t happen overnight,” the “Kurier” quoted the prosecutor’s spokesman as saying. It can therefore be assumed that “the parents accepted the boy’s death with approval.”

According to “Kurier”, the 26 and 25-year-old parents initially had to be treated in hospital because of an “exceptional psychological state” and therefore had not yet been questioned about the death of their child.
