Wind, snow and the high mountains hinder the search for the plane near Sölden. According to the police, the pilot was heading towards Germany.

In Austrian Ötztal continues to search for a missing light aircraft that was on its way to Germany. In the morning a police helicopter was ready to take off, a spokesman for the Tyrol police said. But the weather conditions, which hampered the search the day before, continued to be difficult. It is very windy and there is precipitation with snow at altitude. In addition, the search area is very rugged terrain.

Contact with the pilot of the light aircraft was lost on Saturday afternoon. According to police, it was on its way from Italy to Germany. The pilot’s last location report came from an area northeast of Sölden.

A police helicopter had to call off the search after a short time due to the weather. After reviewing the flight data, the police assumed that the pilot was alone on board.

The Ötztal is a side valley of the Inn Valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The alpine holiday resort of Sölden is located almost 1,400 meters high in the southern part of the valley, around 100 kilometers south of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria.
