In Austria, an avalanche fell in the Lech and Zürs ski area on Sunday afternoon. According to initial findings, ten people could still be under the snow.

In an avalanche in the Austrian ski resort of Lech Zürs, around ten people were buried on Sunday. As the Austrian news agency APA reported, citing the police, at least one injured person could be recovered. Helicopters and avalanche search dogs were therefore used to search for the buried people.

According to APA, the avalanche went off around 3 p.m. in the area of ​​the 2,720-meter-high Trittkopf, foothills even reached the ski slope.

Search parties and helicopters deployed after the avalanche

Several helicopters and several search parties made their way to the scene of the accident. More than a hundred people were in action. “We do everything we can to save the winter sports enthusiasts,” said the Lech municipality. In order to be able to continue the search for the buried people in the dark, searchlights were requested.
