There is still shock in Sydney after the bloody crime committed by a mentally ill man left six people dead. The shopping mall is now opening again – but not everyone is returning to work yet.

Almost a week after the knife attack in a busy shopping center in the Australian metropolis Sydney with six dead, the Westfield Bondi Junction Mall has resumed operations.

Government representatives called on customers to behave “kindly and compassionately” towards the retail employees, some of whom were still traumatized. Some stores also remained closed because some employees were not yet able to return to work, the station 9News reported. In the center near Bondi Beach, which is also popular with tourists, numerous police officers with stab-proof vests should ensure security.

On Saturday afternoon, a 40-year-old man with mental problems stabbed several people before a police officer shot him. Five victims – four women and one man – died from their injuries at the scene, and one woman died later in hospital. Several other people were injured, some seriously. In front of the shopping center, thousands of people had laid flowers and messages of condolence in recent days, including Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
