Australia – Fight against online hate speech – Economy

In the fight against hate speech on the Internet, the Australian government wants to make social networks more accountable. The measures would ensure that the companies are legally regarded as publishers and can be held liable for defamatory comments on their platforms, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday. Corresponding bills are to be published next week and introduced to parliament at the beginning of next year. The plans stipulate that the platform operators have to set up a “fast, simple and standardized complaint system”.
