It is the story of three big names from jazz, staged in word and sound: Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus and Rahsaan Roland Kirk offer plenty to tell apart from their stage success.

August Zirner combines his acting experience with his passion for playing the flute. He works through her life and the social problems of her time from biographical sources: He tells of “policemen who abused Monk’s fingers the worst with clubs”. At the same time, the four musicians span the arc to classics such as “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”.
