As far as license plates are concerned, the Germans are a sensitive people. Some even think that the abbreviations can be used to draw conclusions about driving skills. NU for Neu-Ulm means “rivet on the road”, HO for Hof “horny ox” and FÜ for Fürth “driver practices”. Everyone has to find out for themselves what OA means for Oberallgäu and OAL for Ostallgäu in these districts. AB for Aschaffenburg is quite popular in the rest of the Federal Republic: “Attention Bayer”, that’s a saying that is reliably well received in 15 federal states.
In this sense, one might have to interpret the A for Augsburg as a “beginner” in the future, if one follows the German Insurance Association. He looked at where motorists cause a particularly large amount of expensive damage and where it rarely crashes. In Augsburg, this loss balance was therefore the worst in Bavaria. In general, the Swabians have had to endure a lot recently.
Drivers with the MN license plate for Mindelheim in the Lower Allgäu receive the worst ratings in Germany on an online portal – well, that’s a matter of feeling. But now Augsburg, statistically proven by a reputable association: anyone who travels here for work should negotiate with their employer about a hazard allowance. After all, 15 of the 97 Bavarian registration districts will also receive better classifications for liability insurance in the future, including Landshut, Regensburg and the districts of Bayreuth and Rosenheim. What seems strange, at least for Rosenheim: Doesn’t RO actually stand for “Rasender Ochse”?
All in all, Bavaria can claim a top position for itself in terms of claims balances. However, Markus Söder will not want to include this ranking in his popular series “Where is the Free State ahead of the rest of the Republic”. According to the general association, the highest regional classes with the worst damage balances apply in the major German cities “as well as in parts of Bavaria”. AB for “Caution Bayer” is therefore not out of thin air, although the prime minister should be reassured that his world view can endure at least in one respect: Berlin has had the worst loss record for years. The damage there is almost 40 percent above the German average.
