Greta Gerwig chosen to chair the jury

The jury for this 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will be chaired by American director Greta Gerwig, to whom we owe the film barbie released last year. She succeeds the Swede Ruben Östlund, whose jury awarded the Palme d’Or to Anatomy of a fall last year.

She is “the first American filmmaker to take on” this role, said the festival. She is also the first woman since actress Cate Blanchett in 2018 to access this prestigious position, where men remain over-represented.
