The arrival of Audi in Formula 1 had been in the pipeline for several weeks. The presence of the German manufacturer, from the next season, has just been formalized this Wednesday by a press release. This contains important information: Audi has chosen the Sauber team for its arrival as an engine manufacturer in F1 in 2026.
Until then, the Volkswagen group brand will be a minority shareholder and strategic partner of Sauber, which owns the Alfa Romeo team. This implies that the single-seaters will still bear the Alfa Romeo name in 2023, before being called Sauber in 2024 and 2025, and finally Audi from 2026.
